Stay-Focused's Sixteenth Program

June 25 - 30, 2009

Stay-Focused Conducts Sixteenth Program!

This was our first program of 2009 and the first time we ran a program from the Grand Cayman Marriott. Walter Regidor, the General Manager, and his staff, could not have been more generous in welcoming us to our new venue.

Stay-Focused Divers

Members of the group included: Brittney Bergeron, Kiya Smith, and Andrew West. Unfortunately, Cheyenne Leonard was unable to make the Reunion trip but, hopefully, will return to Cayman to dive next summer.

For the first time, we were lucky to have a couple of Stay-Focused alumnae dive with a Reunion group. Jaclyn Lanzetti, who was one of our first two divers in 2004, and Chelsea Bilodeau, whom we also certified in 2004, were in Cayman on a family vacation and joined us for a total of 6 dives. Jaclyn's dad, Anthony Lanzetti, and her sister, Jessica, who got certified in diving on the trip, also joined us in the water. Great to have all of you along!

Leading the Program

Joining the group: Roger Muller, Founder/President of Stay-Focused; JenFu Cheng, medical advisor and photographer extraordinaire; Jackie Cimino, Stay-Focused alumna and the group's mentor; and core Diving Instructors Tony Chisholm, Chris Brandson, and Marty Banks. Many thanks to Diving Instructors Nick Lawton, Sarah Lown, and Greg McMeckean for volunteering their time to assist us as well. Very much appreciated! As always, many thanks to our diving operations partner, Red Sail Sports, for its ongoing and generous support of Stay-Focused. And thank you Mike Pinnington and Sunset House for your support of our dives as well.

Responsibility Code

As part of each trip, we either create or re-visit our Responsibility Code, which simply outlines the rules of conduct we all agree to abide by during our time together. Here's what the group agreed to:

1. Be on time
2. Stay hydrated!
3. Respect one another
4. Stay together with your dive buddy
5. Show support for one another
6. Keep track of your own dive gear
7. Rise to new challenges
8. Take it seriously
9. Have fun!

Overall, the group did an excellent job respecting the tenets of the Responsibility Code they crafted. Congratulations!

Goals for 2009

Before leaving Cayman, each member of the group committed to achieving a personal goal that was realistic, achievable, and measurable. So, here they are:
Jackie: To prepare a list of graduate programs and submit all her applications by March 2010.

Kiya: To swim a 100-yard freestyle and beat the time of 1:13 by the end of 2009.

Brittney: To submit her application to Southern Utah by the end of 2009.

Andrew: To make the wrestling team by the end of 2009.

So there you have it - on record. Good luck to each of you in achieving your goals!
